Failure to learn is the only true failure.
This four-day course is aimed at people that just started or will start testing in value driven software development cycles like SCRUM and KANBAN. The training will introduce trainees to the basic principles of agile software testing and testing practices.
Through the use of practical examples and lots of hands-on exercises, the most common terminology, core principles and main techniques relevant for testing in a value driven software development environment will become clear as well as the differences between testing in a plan driven software development cycle and a value driven software development cycle. JIRA Software and Adaptavist Test Manager for JIRA are introduced as tools that support value driven software testing.
Having finished the training, trainees will know what is expected from them as (junior) testers and will be able to jump start any value driven software testing project.
The goal of this course is to gain a basic understanding of the basic principles of value driven software testing and to be able to apply these principles in any value driven software testing project. Trainees will be made familiar with the Agile Manifesto and will be able to participate in agile (SCRUM) ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-up, retrospective, …) representing the testing point of view in the team. Trainees will have a good understanding of their responsibilities and will learn the importance of cooperation and teamwork whether in a SCRUM team or in larger initiatives such as through SAFe and CALMS (DevOps). Trainees will learn how the agile testing quadrants can act as a guide to set up a differentiated test approach. Practices like behaviour driven development with Gherkin and test automation will be introduced.
This course is intended for junior test engineers.
No specific prerequisites are required.
However it is recommended that trainees have some experience with structured testing in a plan driven software development cycle. Having followed basic trainings like “Structured Testing:Basics & Methodology”, “Plan Driven Testing” or “ISTQB Foundation (CTFL)” is a plus.
Approximately 50% of the class is devoted to lab exercises.
Throughout the course, an experienced trainer and software testing expert provides lectures and gives exercises based on real world examples. Courses can be given in English, Dutch or French. Course material is in English.
